26 Dec 1822: Part of Lorain attached temporarily until organization of Lorain
1 Apr 1824: Diminished by organization of Lorain
29 Jan 1827: Islands in Lake Erie attached. Part of Lorain attached
6 Mar 1840: Part of Lake attached temporarily until organization
29 Jan 1841: Part attached to Geauga and part of Geauga attached

Cuyahoga County has many defunct townships. By 1990, mos of the townships were annexed by Cleveland or other municipalities. After annexation, the townships no longer had governmental powers and became a township in name only. Nineteen of Cuyahoga's townships are "paper" townships. Only a part of Olmsted Township and a small part of Chagrin Falls Township remain.
