6 Dec 1800: Erected and organized
1 Mar 1805: Diminished by formation of Highland
1 Mar 1818: Diminished by formation of Brown

Clermont County's first courthouse in 1800 was at Williamsburg(h), originally known as Lytlestown. In 1823 a decision was made to move the county seat to New Richmond. There was a dispute over the quality of the buildings. Thus, in 1824, the county seat was moved to Batavia, where it remains. (Thanks to Amy Zimmer Schneider for this updated information!)
